Workshops
Different types of workshops run over a period of sessions that build on various skills and understanding. A lot of these skills and enrichment are species-specific behaviours and are designed to enhance your bond with your dog. They are also workshops to build on your understanding of your dog and their language, communication and understanding.
Currently the workshops offered are as follows:
Introduction to Canine Reactivity (November 23rd)
Introduction to Gundog Skills (January 4th)
Introduction to Scentwork (October 26th)
Recall & Lead walking (TBC)
Introduction to Reactivity
Reactivity Workshops cover the basic foundations of reactivity and what can drive reactivity behaviour. It also helps builds owner confidence and understanding of reactivity. The workshop is SPECTATOR ONLY so no dogs allowed. The workshop includes use of 1-1s to apply the learning to your own dog.
The workshops cover skills and understanding of reactivity to include:
🐾 What is reactivity and how can it develop?
🐾Dog law and how it is applicable to reactive dogs
🐾Basic skills to help build reactivity including engage-disengage, focus, calming and arousal work
🐾What to do when your dog REACTS
🐾 Management and realistic expectations and goals of reactivity
Gundog
Gundog Workshops cover the basic foundations of gundog for all dogs. These classes are suitable for all dogs whether they are happy around other dogs or not.
This workshop has spectator or handler spaces, with the spectator spaces having a 1-1 to cover the skills learnt in the workshop to their own dog.
The workshops cover skills and understanding of gundog to include:
🐾 How to build a retrieve and use of gundog dummies
🐾Building boundary training and how that helps build desire, steadiness and control
🐾Building desire and motivation of retrieval
🐾Use of directional whistle cues and tapping into a dogs natural retrieval insticts.
🐾Use of gundog in behavioural modification and how it can help with various behavioural struggles, such as anxiety, reactivity, aggression and over-arousal.
Scentwork
Scentwork Workshops cover the basic foundations of scentwork for all dogs. These scentwork classes are suitable for all dogs whether they are happy around other dogs or not.
This workshop has spectator or handler spaces, with the spectator spaces having a 1-1 to cover the skills learnt in the workshop to their own dog.
The workshops cover skills and understanding of scentwork to include:
🐾 How to build coin indication and use of a tin to build indication
🐾Building boundary training and how that helps build desire
🐾Contamination of odour and how to avoid as much contamination as possible
🐾Adding difficulty to the searches including, blind, elevated and multiple searches
🐾Use of scentwork in behavioural modification and how it can help with various behavioural struggles, such as anxiety, reactivity, aggression and over-arousal.
